Indio Surf School.
The name of our surf school Indio Surf School was born as a tribute to the beloved and hospitable figure of Paul's father (one of our instructors), his father a renowned craftsman and artist from Playa Sámara, Guanacaste. At 72 years old, this man is known for his hospitality, welcoming tourists and locals with coffee, bread, fruit, and his fascinating stories. His house, decorated with shells, reflects his love for the sea and his art of sculpting stones and shells to make jewelry.
In honor of him, Paul decided to name the school Indio Surf School,
seeking to immortalize and pay tribute to his father. The logo, which
faithfully represents the essence of his father, was designed by Erick Araya,
a talented national artist. Through this logo, we wanted to convey not only
the color and energy of the place, but also the unique character of the
person who inspired all this.
Paul, who since childhood dreamed of having a surf school, is the heart of
Indio Surf School. At 46 years old and with 12 years of experience as an ISA
certified surf instructor, Paul offers personalized classes tailored to all
levels. In addition, he is always accompanied by Ron, his adorable 1-year-old
kaninchen dachshund, who has become the school's official mascot, stealing
sighs and glances from everyone.
At Surf School we offer a variety of services: classes for beginners,
intermediate, advanced, children and adults, both private and group. We also
have board rentals and souvenir sales with our distinctive logo.
We speak Spanish, English, German and Swiss German, and we are open every day
from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm, including weekends. We are located on Sámara Beach,
between Intercultura and Olas Beach Bar.
We are waiting for you to live a unique and authentic surfing experience in the paradise of Sámara!
